Jason Ford is an illustrator inspired by bande dessinée, who creates dynamic and colourful artworks that express drama with skillful line work. A wide appreciation and knowledge of art, design and general pop culture imbues his drawings with references in style, composition and colour that create an underlying feeling of familiarity. Collectively Jason’s artworks convey a long running battle with life, illuminating the absurd, the over reactions, the lover’s tiffs, the mistakes and mishaps of everyday existence.
Elevating and celebrating the everyday has meant that Jason has worked extensively for an editorial client base including The Economist, Eye Magazine, Globe and Mail, GQ, The Guardian, The Hollywood Reporter, Men’s Heath, PORT Magazine and Wired. He has developed a series of kids activities books and products with Laurence King Publishing based on his original concept ‘The Super Book for Superheroes’ and has worked on advertising projects for American Airlines, Ben & Jerry’s, Cadbury and the NSPCC.
“"This was SUCH a fun book to work on with Jason. I am a big fan of his activity books with Laurence King (The Super Book for Superheroes, The Monster Book of Zombies, Spooks and Ghouls, The Cosmic Book of Space, Aliens and Beyond) and was very excited to see what he would do for Super Animals! – a novel and fun approach to non-fiction. And Jason did not disappoint! He brought Mike Barfield’s text to life with brilliant characterisation, humour and a vibrant comic book style that we know will appeal to readers. He was also super nice to work with. We are so happy with how this book turned out – I for one will be gifting it to every child I know" ”
