Ongoing commission of portraits for The New York Times Opinion’s America in Focus series.
America in Focus convenes topical focus groups to expand the reach of opinion journalism to include people who are often overlooked in the national conversation. Diverse panels meet in video conferences to discuss a wide range of topics including politics, transgender experiences, ethnicity, the economy, policing and education. The discussions are lead by Editors at The New Times who ask Americans to share their views.
Lucinda works from screenshots taken from the video feed for each discussion. The drawn portraits are then used amongst the transcript of the conversation, and to highlight the questions and answers.
