On January 1st 2021, the text for The Great Gatsby entered the public domain and it has been freely adapted for the first time with this illustrated edition published by Black Dog & Leventhal, an imprint of Hachette
Adam Simpson was commissioned to create eight internal artworks and a series of spots to sit amongst the text as well as the design for the cover and slip case. The text of this illustrated edition is reprinted from the first printing of the first edition of the work, published in 1925
“…I thought of Gatsby’s wonder when he first picked out the green light at the end of Daisy’s dock… his dream must have seemed so close that he could hardly fail to grasp it. He did not know that it was already behind him, somewhere back in that vast obscurity beyond the city…”
